Automation of Diesel Generator at Abu Dhabi

The Touch panel is connected with programmable controller using Modbus communication interface. The key task of Touch Panel is to visualize the situation in the plant, which facilitates the tracking of the devices by the operator so that the necessary actions could be performed which increases the optimal reliability and the availability of the plant.

Besides the visual image of all motorized switches in the plant, the actual operational mode is being tracked, including the status of all the transformators and generators for needed emergency generator.

During the realization of the project the main task was the synchronization of the generators and the management of motorized switches. The push buttons, which are located on the cubicle near the Touch Panel, are used for manual synchronization and for the operation of the generators, which allowed us to focus on the situation in the plant.

Overview screen gives detailed view of devices, actual situation of all main components in it, starting from Transformator, generator up to all belonging switches, which are important when choosing the operator for adequate work regulations of devices.

After the generator has been connected to the bus, the digital multimeter (INTEGRA 1530) uses ProfiBus communication interface to deliver data from the generator’s switch

Besides the tracking of the measuring values, it is also possible to track the status of the generator and the status of all the relevant switches of the generator ring needed for accessing the bus. The operator can view the data concerning Line voltage and power, Phase voltage, Frequency, the Power Factor, Active power of any phase and total Active, Reactive and Apparent power of the Generator.
